The PPA is a separate organization from the school that is run by parent volunteers and is similar to a traditional PTA. We strive to foster community among Peekadoodle parents and to support teacher professional development and appreciation.
We believe that creating connections and supporting our teachers will ultimately benefit our children. Together with Peekadoodle, we can help enhance our children’s and families' experiences and prepare our preschoolers for an exceptional future.

Overview
Room Parent Communications:
Get to know your fellow Peekadoodle families! Check out our calendar of upcoming events this school year.
Community-Building Events:
Regular emails updates from your child’s classroom with upcoming events, important reminders, and more. These are also a great way to connect with other class families!
Teacher & Staff Appreciation:
The PPA collects gifts for an “Honor Our Teachers” (H.O.T.) fund leading up to the winter holidays in December and Teacher Appreciation week in May
Teacher Enrichment:
PPA fundraisers help our children’s teachers attend valuable conferences and early education training programs (e.g., California Association for the Education of Young Children Conference, Outdoor Teachers Project) as well as support additional enrichment activities and classes (e.g., specialists, unique enrichment consultants)

What are the PPA’s goals?
The PPA’s mission is to help foster community among Peekadoodle families and staff, and to help support professional development opportunities for Peekadoodle teachers. Our fundraising goal is to raise funds over the school year, which will go towards educational enrichment activities and supplies, teacher and staff appreciation, and help support professional development opportunities including conferences and training events for our children’s teachers.
what are ppa dues for?
In non-Covid years, the PPA has traditionally asked parents to contribute at the beginning of the year to cover food, drinks, and other supplies at PPA sponsored events (e.g., Quarterly Teacher Lunches, Teacher Appreciation Week, Parents Night Out, etc.). This year, given the unprecedented times we are living in, we may instead ask for modest contributions throughout the year to help fund teacher enrichment and teacher appreciation.
What is the role of room parents?
Being a room parent is a great way to connect and build relationships with your other Peekadoodle families! Each classroom’s room parents will share regular email updates and help keep in touch with other parents to set up playdates outside of school. In addition, each classroom’s room parents will help organize one teacher appreciation lunch for Peekadoodle teachers and staff during the school year.

There are many ways for parents to get involved throughout the school year! Here are a few ways you can help support Peekadoodle and the PPA:
Become a room parent. This is a great way to stay informed, connect with other families, and build a sense of community among your child’s class.
Volunteer for an upcoming event. We’ll be looking for parents to help with picture day, the book fair in the fall, and more events to come throughout the school year.
Contribute educational supplies. Contact your room parent to see if your class has ‘wish list’ items that will further enrich our kids’ educational experience at Peekadoodle.

The H.O.T. Fund & How You Can Participate
The ‘Honor Our Teachers’ (H.O.T) fund is one of ways that we celebrate the talented, qualified, loving and patient teaching and support staff at Peekadoodle.
Instead of each family buying individual gifts for the teachers in your class (coffee mugs, flowers, etc.), we collect cash donations from parents to give each teacher and member of the support staff. We do this twice a year, once at the Holidays, and during Teacher Appreciation week in early May.
